After a recruiting scandal wipes out Princeton's freshman class of fencers, an enterprising scout sees a chance to improve his own standing in the form of an unimpeachable high school senior. A black rec‑yard fencer from an underprivileged background with more than a few demons. Unfortunately, the only person he can find to get the kid into Princeton shape is a fencer who was defrocked after fouling out of the Olympic finals.

USA Fencing CEO Phil Andrews is bringing the sport to Hollywood ahead of the LA 2028 Games. At a recent UTA gathering, Team USA hopefuls Nick Itkin and Bryce Louie put on a demo for industry insiders including Misha Green, Robin Swicord, and Jurnee Smollett; composer Laura Karpman revealed she will write a fanfare theme for Team Fencing. With momentum from 'Wednesday,' K-pop star Jackson Wang, and a post-pandemic surge in club membership, USA Fencing is pitching the sport as 'physical chess' — and eyeing a 'Drive to Survive'–style docuseries to broaden its reach.
